Flying Tips - On Board Advice
We believe that our flying tips will help you have a better flight, business
or pleasure. This information has been based on our many years of travelling.
This list of flying tips is in no particular
order of importance:
- If you have a fear of flying, make sure you tell the cabin staff, before
take-off - They are sympathetic to people with this problem.
- During the flight stretch your calf muscles often whilst seated to help protect
against blood clots / deep vein thrombosis. Walk and stand often to encourage
blood circulation. We always take dispersible (mini) asprin, one a day for the
week preceding a long-haul flight, to thin the blood - If you are on heart or
blood medication, check with your GP or Pharmacist.
- Wear loose, comfortable layered clothing and slip-on shoes.
- If you use any kind of medicines / inhailer or auto-ject make sure it is
in your carry-on / hand luggage or pocket and you have a copy of your prescription
on your person.
- If you wear contact lenses or glasses remove them before going to sleep.
- If you have any problems with your ears, take a decongestant an hour before
boarding. Carry boiled sweets or chewing gum to eat during take-off and landing
and swallow hard to relieve the pressure in your ears.
- Moderate your alcoholic liquor intake, but do take on plenty of liquid.
- Take advantage of the small 'liquid allowance' and take a small bottle of
'Clearasil' or similar to freshen and clense the skin, especially the face.
- Carry a face flanel to use as an emergency hand towel.
