Sewell joins the Marina Marbella team following a very successful eight-year spell as sales manager at Ancasta where he was responsible for the Fairline range and latterly for introducing Bavaria’s motorboat line-up into the UK boating sector. Following this, Simon joined B A Peters and spent four-and-a-half years there, marketing the Fairline and Sealine fleets and, most recently, being the UK brand manager for the luxury Italian marque Azimut Yachts. All told, Simon has some 20 years of experience in the marine leisure industry, starting when he left school in Sussex for his first job, crewing aboard the 82ft multi world-record breaking Maxi yacht Nirvana, racing against Simon Le Bon on the ill-fated Drum, amongst others. A Hamble resident for eight years, the 39-year-old father of one is enjoying his short commute working alongside Chris Owen, Marina Marbella UK’s General Manager. “It’s great to have someone of Simon’s calibre and track record working with us,” says Owen. “His vast experience in the luxury yacht market will help us capitalise on the growth in that sector and continue our strong performance in our core leisure sector between 18 and 50 feet.” Sewell believes that the company slogan ‘a sea of possibilities’ couldn’t be more appropriate. “Marina Marbella sells 93 different new boat models from 12 manufacturers off the shelf. Marina Marbella, probably Europe’s largest motorboat retail outlet, has recently appointed Simon Sewell as Sales Manager at its UK office in Hamble Point Marina, at the mouth of the River Hamble, with easy access to the world famous waters of the Solent. The new position has been created to oversee the company’s retail and brokerage teams and the marketing for the 12 different motorboat brands that they represent.|
