Pre Travel or Vacation Check Off List
We believe that a pre travel or vacation check off
lists are an essential part of the planning of any trip. business or pleasure.
This pre travel or vacation check off
list is based on our many years of travelling.
This pre travel or vacation check off
list is in no particular order of importance:
- Take anti-malarial precautions when
going to areas of the world that are known to be risky. Check with your GP or
Pharmacist.
- Take antibiotics, amoebic dysentery treatment, diarrhoea tablets and electrolyte
with you if you are going to be travelling off the beaten track.
- If you are taking any medication, make sure you have enough to last the whole
trip and take a copy of your prescription with you.
- Have a full dental check-up before departure.
- Take at least one spare pair of glasses or contact lenses with you and a
copy of your prescription.
- Obtain travel insurance to cover: theft, loss and medical as well as third
party liability and carry a policy copy document with phone numbers of the insurer's
help line.
- If you are more than 30 weeks into a pregnancy, consult your GP. It is claimed
that the safest time to fly during pregnancy is between weeks 18 and 24 - Try
to book an aisle seat so that you can easily get out of your seat to stretch
your legs.
- Pack a small basic medical kit, including in it unopened blister packets
or tubes of your preferred: pain killer, antihistamine pills, aloe vera gel,
powdered cold treatment, decongestant and any non-prescription lotions or potions
you usually take regularly.
- Seek medical advice at least 6 weeks before travel about inoculations or
injections as you may require a course of prevention for some tropical diseases.
- Take a supply of quality condoms if you are single and sexually active.
- Get plenty of sleep, avoid drinking alcohol and eat a balanced meal before
traveling.
- If you are normally fit and healthy, and not taking any heart or blood medication,
take a (mini) dispersible asprin, available over the counter, daily - two weeks
prior to a long haul flight, this is known to thin the blood and help prevent
deep vein thrombosis.
Note: If you are flying long-haul; Jet-lag generally hits you more travelling
west to east, so if you can 'stop-over' on this leg after about 8 hours flying
the effects will be greatly reduced.
